Growing up in Christ – Part 2

There is no doubt that if one wants to grow up in Christ Jesus, one needs to walk in holiness and obedience as discussed before. However this spiritual exercise includes daily communication with God, daily meditation on God’s Word and mastering the act of daily waiting on God. In other words, this is what it means to have fellowship with God daily. Adam had fellowship with God before he lost it; but since God longs for intimacy, He sent the Lord Jesus Christ to restore it. Glory be to God! You will agree with me that it is only those that are clothed with the righteousness of God that is privileged to have access to God to communicate with Him. Remember that those that are born from above are made the righteousness of God in Christ. [2 Corith. 5:21]. So if you are born again, you are qualified to walk with God and reign in Christ. Notwithstanding, effective communication is imperative in walking with God. By the grace of God, I major in switching {Telephoning} that is a branch of Telecommunication. In the principle of communication, for the speech signal from the transmitter not to get lost in transit, there must be a good receiver at the receiving end. Effective communication is two ways. It is unlike radio that keeps on talking and waits not for an answer.

God desires effective communication with us. How many of us as fathers will be happy talking to our children that cannot hear and talk back to us? Absolutely none will be comfortable with such imbecile children. How much more of our heavenly Father who longs to commune with His children! A breakdown in communication is always suicidal. We should take a queue behind Jesus Christ and follow His footsteps by communing daily with our Father. It is written, “And very early morning while it was still very dark, when He got up He came out and went into an isolated place and He was praying there.” Mark 1:35. I believe that He chose such a place to avoid interruption of His conversation with His Father. He did nothing without first consulting and confiding in His Father, and he seized not to have times of refreshing from the presence of the Most High in order to minister effectively. In other words, prayer is communicating with God in the name of Jesus. It is pouring out your heart to God either in your language or in heavenly language [tongues]. Jude 1:20. The Lord with clean hands and open heart would go before God to tell Him how the day was and wait on Him to receive the blue print for the following day.

On a serious note, one has to do away with sin if you don’t want your line of communication to God blocked and your cutting edge blunt. With clean conscience and faith that God is right there with you; tell Him as it is in your life. If the Holy Spirit convicts you of any sin, be humble to confess and repent and ask for forgiveness. Our merciful God forgives and forgets and you need to receive your forgiveness and commune with God with confidence. This statement can be confirmed in Isaiah 43:25. The scripture also says, “If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me.” Psalm66: 18. Prayer no doubt brings us to the very Presence of God where we receive the fullness of joy and pleasure from time to eternity. Remember that He promised to instruct us and teach us in the way we ought to go and guide us with His eyes. Psalm 32:8. This is only possible when we seek Him with our whole heart in prayers. It is during this time of communication that He speaks back to us and instructs us on what to do and how to do it. Often He gives us scriptures to meditate on in order to enhance our faith as we walk in its light. When we meditate on the Scriptures as Joshua puts it, we will grow in the revelation knowledge of God.

May God fill us with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding. Amen. May the Holy Spirit sanctify our imagination so that we can behold Him in the pages of the Bible as we read it. Joshua 1:8 is instructive on this issue, it is said, “This book of the Torah [Teaching] will not depart out of your mouth, but you will meditate on it day and night, so you can observe to do according to all that is written in it for then you will act wisely in all your ways, and then you will have good success.” After all said and done, we wait in other words; we remain silence before Him and listen to what He wants to tell us. We are told to be still and know that He is Lord as we wait on Him. Without any shade of doubt, the RHEMA we receive is the seed for a successful living and solution to any problem in question.

This act of waiting requires patience sacrifice and faith to believe that God speaks to His people that seek Him. You do not rush into God’s Presence and rush out if you want to be led by Him. You need to find time out of no time to seek Him whole-heartedly. You ought to know that without faith you cannot please JEHOVAH. Isaiah the Prophet revealed that whosoever waits on the Lord will exchange his natural weakness and disease with the strength of God. Such a person will attain spiritual heights. He will run and not be weary. He will walk and not faint. I trust the Holy Spirit to remove every hindrance to the flow of revelation knowledge on waiting on the Lord as it flows to us from our fountain Head of wisdom, knowledge and understanding, the LORD JESUS CHRIST. May HE keep us hungry and thirsty for God and enable us to feed daily on the bread of life and drink from the river of life. Amen. The next discuss will take us deeper into the act of waiting.
