The Nature of the Kingdom of God

Without an iota of doubt, the Kingdom of God is not static or stagnant but progressive, dynamic and supernatural. I will like to use the wordings of the following song as my launchpad.

It reads, The cloud of Glory is moving, Let us move with the cloud, Let your spirit arise and your Strength be renewed, come Let us move on together, as We follow where He leads , New heights we attain, as We move with the cloud, Move with the cloud.

The wilderness journey of the redeemed of the Lord was so remarkable,in that the presence of God was with them every now and then. They were led by the pillar of cloud by the day time and by the pillar of fire by the night time. He promised Moses by saying,”My Presence shall go with you, and I will give you rest”; and He fulfilled His promise. Not withstanding, those who were rebellious to Divine order and desired to turn back to Egypt died in the wilderness. Those that followed God wholeheartedly reached the promised land. In like manner, every Christian that listens to the Holy Spirit and hears, obeys, and follows Him these days; will attain spiritual heights. In other words, such person will grow spiritually.

Paul the apostle said, “Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” Phill. 3:13-14. Paul did not settle or give in to distractions of his time, he kept moving with the cloud of Glory. He kept living and walking in the Holy Spirit. No wonder he attained such a spiritual heights in Christ. This is God’s standard for His people who understand the nature of His Kingdom. The Kingdom of God is not in words but powerful and glorious.

The Word of God says, we move; From grace to grace. [John 1:16] From faith to faith. [Rom 1:17] From strength to strength.[Ps. 84:7] From glory to glory. [2Corinth.3:18] And we shine forth, brighter and brighter.[Prov.4:18] When we, by the grace of God, come out victoriously from trials, tests and temptations, our faith is increased and our strength is renewed like the eagle’s. We bask in the awesome glory of God that brightens our path to keep us going with the Lord of Hosts. God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, have shined in our heart so that He will continue to shine brighter and brighter in us and through us; to dispel the darkness of this world.

The dynamic and progressive nature of the Kingdom of God is revealed in Ezekiel 47:1-5. “Afterward he brought me again unto the door of the house; and, behold, waters issued out from under the threshold of the house eastward: for the forefront of the house stood toward the east, and the waters came down from under from the right side of the house, at the south side of the altar. Then brought he me out of the way of the gate northward, and, led me about the way without unto the utter gate by the way that looketh eastward; and, behold, there ran out waters on the right side. And when the man that had the line in his hand went forth eastward, he measured a thousand cubits, and he brought me through the waters; the waters were to the ankles. Again he measured a thousand, and brought me through the waters; the waters were to the knees. Again he measured a thousand, and brought me through; the waters were to the loins.Afterward he measured a thousand; and it was a river that I could not pass over; for the waters were risen, water to swim in, a river that could not be passed over.” Living waters as the Lord Jesus Christ explained it, is a symbol of the Holy Spirit.[John7:37-39] [Psa.44:3}. The filling of the Holy Spirit is imperative as soon as one is saved. Actually one has the Holy Spirit in a measure the day one is saved. Jesus said,”But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.” John 4:14. I take this as the first one thousand measure of the river in Ezekiel 47:1-5 and Rev.22:1. This is a level of experience in God that is shallow when the Holy Spirit is not fully in control of one’s life. After the day of Pentecost, the apostles were continually being filled with the Holy Spirit.[Acts2, 4:8,31] Paul also counsel by saying, “—Be not drunk with wine , wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;” Eph 5:18. This means, we should be continually filled with Holy Spirit, the power of the Highest. We should daily thirst for the rain, the formal rain and the later rain and receive the soaking power of God to do exploit to His glory.
